The Accommodation sector covers those businesses that provide somewhere to sleep as part of their offer to guests. The guests may be from overseas or other regions of New Zealand, travelling on holiday or on business. The sector includes businesses such as:
- Hotels, and motels
- Backpackers and hostels
- Holiday accommodation parks
- Bed & Breakfast places
- Lodges and Resorts
- Halls of residence and apartments
Many accommodation businesses provide meals in restaurants, or self-use kitchens, bars, conference rooms, business centres, day spas, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment and casinos.
There is a variety of accommodation job roles, from General Managers, Duty Managers, Owner/Operators, Food and Beverage Managers, Restaurant and Bar Managers, Waiters, Baristas and Bartenders, to Front Office Managers, Front Office Supervisors and Receptionists, Executive Housekeepers to Housekeeping Supervisors and Room Attendants.
