Celebrating Achievement
Many hospitality professionals received their National Diplomas and Certificates at HSI Achievement Awards in 2011. These events celebrate the achievement of several qualifications, such as Modern Apprenticeships, cookery, food and beverage, and management training.
Nearly 3,000 people gained national qualifications in the hospitality profession in 2011, in their chosen career pathways. Those honing their skills as chefs, baristas, hotel and restaurant managers, maitre d’s, and many other roles in our vibrant hospitality sector, undertake between six months to three years of training on the job to earn their nationally recognised qualifications. These new graduates add even more talent to our local industry.
Having qualified staff is very often a win for the employer. Recent research shows that staff who undertook workplace qualifications actually improved the bottom line of a business, and that they were more likely to stay in that business. See the research under RVA (Reporting the Value Add) at www.hsi.co.nz/research.
HSI offers short up-skill programmes that meet specific needs, such as customer service and food safety, through to nationally recognised qualifications such as the HSI Modern Apprenticeships programme, and National Certificates and National Diploma traineeships.
