7108 - Deliver on-job training to adults
What is 7108 about?
This course is aimed at those delivering, or intending to deliver, training in the workplace. The course is based on unit standard 7108 which is widely used across New Zealand industries as a way of raising the standard of a trainer’s preparation, delivery and management of in-house training programmes.
How long is it?
The 7108 course runs over two days. Day one centres on underpinning training theory and practice. Day two focuses on preparing the candidate for post-course assessment.
Please be aware that in order to satisfactorily meet the requirements of unit standard 7108 you will be required to submit a post-course project. Attendance at the training program only, will not enable you to achieve this unit standard.
The post-course project involves both a written component and an on-site practical assessment. The observation of you employing what you have learnt in your workplace will, in the majority of cases be conducted by your trainer.
HSI expects course participants to have completed all aspects (i.e. both the written and practical components) of their post-course project within three (3) months of the training course attended.
What is involved?
As a candidate, you are required to complete three post course structured training sessions in your own workplace. Candidates will plan and begin designing these sessions during the course. You will have one month to complete your session and provide your Assessor with evidence. If evidence is sufficient, you will be awarded unit standard 7108. If not initially sufficient, the Assessor will be available to provide you with extra time, and guidance.
How much is it?
For hospitality industry applicants, the price remains at $395 incl gst.
However, HSI advises it is not able to continue subsidising the cost of these courses for training providers and schools. This is because HSI’s funding only includes industry.
Therefore, from April 2011, the new full cost for providers and schools will be $800 incl gst.
