Schools Advisory Committee Profile
In 2007 HSI established the Schools Advisory Committee to provide guidance to HSI for ongoing schools initiatives. It was imperative to HSI to have a group of schools representatives advising on behalf of the regions schools and hence the Schools Advisory Committee was formed.
Special consideration was given to the members, demographics and geographics when appointing the committee members. Representatives are chosen and agreed by the Chief Executive of HSI, on recommendations from the HSI Industry Development Manager and HSI Schools Manager. Selection of the schools representatives is to provide a full, balanced and current reflection of the sector.
Representation on the Committee is reviewed every two years.
Purpose
The Schools Advisory Committee (SAC) is a forum for schools representatives to provide input and feedback to HSI.
Role
The forum provides an important consultative and advisory mechanism through which schools input is provided to HSI. Its primary purpose is to:
- provide direction to the development of HSI initiatives for the Schools Sector
- evaluate the content of the National Qualifications to ensure that it is delivering the skill requirements required by the secondary school and employers;
- provide feedback in regards to whether HSI quality systems promote and support an increased uptake of workplace training.
- provide feedback to ensure that HSI’s products and services are maintained and continue to be relevant.
- flag potential future schools and education systems needs.
- identify learning and development needs.
