OASIS

OASIS (Offering Assistance to Students in Schools) has been introduced by HSI together with McDonald's to support hospitality training in schools and is aimed at students wanting a career in the hospitality/food industry.  This programme is linked to nationally recognised unit standards and can lead to national qualifications in hospitality.

The programme

This work experience takes place in a local McDonald's restaurant. This will be a block period of 5-10 weeks, with one-two shifts worked in each week, totaling 30 hours. Students are required to work shifts some of which may be in their own time and some in school time. A schedule will be worked out for
students, schools and McDonald’s.

During this work experience students will be trained on four different McDonald’s Stations and assessed in the following unit standards:

  • 62 - Maintain personal presentation in the workplace
  • 167 - Practice food safety in a food business
  • 377 - Work in a diverse workplace
  • 2977 - Read texts for practical purposes
  • 14443 - Prepare food orders for takeaway in a commercial environment
Please note: This work experience is unpaid.
